FAQs *updated*

Are your commissions open?
My commissions are pretty much always full. I take 40 slots every 4 months or so, but my slots fill up within seconds after I post that I'm taking new orders

How do I know when you'll be taking order?
I always post a journal update about a week before I open with the date, time and a countdown to when I'll be taking new orders. Just keep an eye out for that!

I messaged you exactly when your commissions opened why didn't I get a slot?
That would be because I get a high volume of notes at that very second, and although I'd love to take all the commission requests I'm only one person and I can only take 40 orders at once to avoid overworking myself.

Do you take point commissions?
Sadly points cannot pay my fabric, so therefore I can't accept point commissions.

How do you make patterns?
I learned how to make patterns by studying patterns that were available for free online and by starting small and simple then working my way up to more complex projects.

Can you give/sell me your patterns?
Sadly I don't give away or sell my patterns. A lot of hard work goes into them, and most of them don't even fit in my scanner anyways lol. Although I do have one tutorial in my gallery right now [link]

That much for a plush toy??
Handmade plush toys are usually much more expensive than the manufactured ones you buy in stores because a lot more work, time and care goes into each of them. Each of them is unique, and is made to be the highest quality I can offer.

What fabric do you use and where do you get it?
I use minky smooth, which I order from here: [link] , [link] or [link]

Are you open for trades?
I sometimes will do trades. I'll post a notice whenever I'm interested in some trades

What machine do you use for embroidery?
I have a Baby Lock Ellure plus, and I use Stitch Era Universal to digitize(which is a free software) drawings into embroidery designs.

Would you be willin to sell patterns if I were to only use it for my own use, not commercially?

Still no planning on selling my patterns since most of them were created specifically for commissions and it wouldn't be fair to my clients, sorry.

I've read about an Etsy seller who was also concerned about selling her patterns, but she decided to risk it. She found that she made even more of a profit by selling her patterns as well as the finished product. The seller also noticed that some people would buy both the pattern AND the finished product! :D I don't know if this will help you, but I just wanted to share :)

If you'd like the link to the article that mentioned this particular seller, I can try to find it for you as well.

It's not that I'm concerned about not making enough profit with patterns. Patterns are what define me as a plush artist, they are what makes my work mine. Just like an illustrator doesn't share their linearts I don't share my patterns, sold or otherwise, with occasional exceptions :)

I don't completely understand. Are you saying that your integrity as a plush artist remains intact?

how do you pack your plushies when you ship then off? Like do you wrap them in something then put them in a box?

I put them in plastic bags in case the box gets wet, but that's it

Hey, I'm not asking for a tutorial or patterns or anything but I'm so curious about your process for pattern making. Do you build forms and make the pattern by pinning onto to it or have you been doing this long enough that you just kind of have a feel now for how you need to cut things to get the shape you want?

My curiosity has been (well and truly) piped and I've been looking at getting an embroidery machine (second-hand). I would love to design my own eyes and sew them onto fabric!

Do you know if the Stitch Era Universal program produces files that can be loaded onto any embroidery machine model and brand?

Yup, it can export in every file format any machine should need
