This is what I've been up to this weekend. I know that a lot of people want pony plushies, but can't pay the high bids they go for on Ebay. So I sat down and drafted a smaller, simpler pony plush pattern to cut the costs of making them and to be able to offer them at lower prices.
These ponies are 6 inches tall (not including their mane), and are made of minky. they have hand embroidered cutie marks and face details, and they also have decorative sand in their feet to weight them down.
I designed these to be super chibi, but the outcome is very different from what I had in mind! I actually think their bodies are more accurate than my big ponies' lol. Their heads aren't very accurate though, but that was to make them simple and time efficient to make. They don't have eye whites to go with the chibi style I had in mind, and to save time.
As individual designs, I think they're mostly successful. I think next time I make Rarity I'll make her eyes a bit smaller.
My original plan was to make Rainbow Dash and Applejack as well, but I still haven't figured out how I'm going to shrink down Rainbow Dash's mane and tail and still make it time efficient to make. As for Applejack, I didn't have the right orange for her. All I had was a bright orange.
These ponies simply have fabric eyes. I cut out all the shapes and top stitched them to the plush before assembling it. Nowadays I machine embroider the eyes.
i know you probaly dont want to reveal your secret....but me and my friend would love to try this . I would love a simple pattern for this because i really dont have experince sewing. We love ponies and want a plushie but im a crafty person soooo i wanna make it....if you could that would be amazzziinnng
